Mission
IBA Industrial is the world leader in electron-based irradiation solutions for industrial applications. As a Safety System Engineer, you will join our Systems Engineering team to design and develop critical safety systems that protect operators and facilities.
Acting as the link between customer needs, product requirements, and regulatory constraints, you will define safe and compliant system architectures, manage requirements and verification activities, and ensure that safety is embedded throughout the entire development lifecycle, from concept to certification.
The role combines safety-focused system engineering with broader systems engineering activities, such as requirements definition and management, technical documentation, system integration, verification, and testing. This provides the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the product and to contribute to different phases of the system lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through integration, validation, and certification.
Challenges we trust you with
- Analyze customer requirements, applicable regulations, and site-specific constraints.
- Design safety system architectures and define integration strategies with third-party equipment and systems.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including System Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents, architecture dossiers, and traceability matrices.
- Ensure requirements are correctly cascaded to subsystems and that implemented solutions meet the original safety and operational needs.
- Define verification strategies and demonstrate compliance through testing and documented evidence.
- Contribute to certification and regulatory compliance activities.
- Collaborate closely with Software, Test, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs teams.
- Support the System Owner on safety-related topics, contributing to technical consistency throughout the project lifecycle
- Support integration and validation activities while maintaining oversight of system safety performance.
What we value
- Master's degree in Engineering (Automation, Electronics, Electromechanics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Automation, or the development of complex industrial systems.
- Good understanding of systems engineering methodologies, requirements management, and verification activities.
- Experience producing structured technical documentation and maintaining requirement traceability.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, reliability engineering, RAMS, FMEA, or similar safety-oriented methodologies is a strong asset.
- Professional proficiency in English; French is an advantage.
What Will Make You Successful
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to understand the big picture.
- High level of rigor and attention to detail, particularly when dealing with safety-critical systems.
- Ability to break down complex problems, structure work effectively, and maintain clear documentation.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Collaborative attitude, openness to feedback, and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Awareness of safety, reliability, and human-factor considerations in system design.
