Mission
Responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment that is essential to the Proton Therapy System (PTS), troubleshooting equipment issues, performing routine preventative maintenance, conducting system inspections, and communicating the system's status to leadership and other stakeholders, support hardware and software testing, and be involved in unit testing, integration testing, validation testing, and other site-related activities that allow IBA to deliver on our mission.
The unique specialization of this position is to take ownership of the software tasks and systems of the site, while still executing the baseline responsibilities of a Proton Therapy site engineer.

· Maintain and deploy the Proton Therapy System (PTS) for various customer needs, which will include but not be limited to: Quality Assurance, Development, Software/Hardware Testing, Troubleshooting, and Experimentation.
· Take ownership of network, IT, and software elements of the system; with continued maintenance of the linux, unix, and Microsoft systems on-site. Essentially be the system administrator of the site.
· Troubleshoot PTS equipment including electrical, mechanical, and software problems.
· Perform maintenance of the PTS including but not limited to routine preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and corrective maintenance as necessary.
· Perform system inspections and clearly communicate the status of the system to leadership as well as to IBA employees.
· Provide support to PTS Hardware and Software testing.
· Support daily clinical operations for the customer clinical staff as defined by the Site Manager and Site Technical Leader (STL) in accordance with site policies.
· Maintain adequate records as defined by the customer and Site Manager in accordance with company QA and FDA regulations.
· Support the PTS in all phases, which will include but not be limited to unit testing, integration testing, validation testing and other various site related activities as the Site Manager and STL defines them.
· Train and mentor Technicians and new colleagues.
· Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
What we value
· B.S. in Engineering, Physics or other applicable field, or an Associate’s degree with 7+ years of relevant work experience.
· 3+ years' experience in electrical/mechanical/software system repair, troubleshooting, maintenance of large integrated systems.
· Deep familiarity and understanding of software concepts including: system administration, linux, unix, scripting, Java, database management, configuration management, network management, general computer architecture, computer peripherals, and data management.
· Candidate should have experience in several of the following: Software systems, Network administration, Cyclotrons, Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Software Analysis, X-Ray Systems, Positioning Equipment, Cooling Systems, Vacuum Systems, PLC’s (Siemens), Regulation Loops, Drivers, Sensors, Electric Motors, High Voltage Equipment, Power Supplies, Proton Therapy Systems, etc.
· Solid general knowledge of/experience with - Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.
· Knowledge of local EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) regulations is a plus.
· Detailed knowledge of SAP, Siemens Step 7, and Service Max is a plus.
· Experience in LEAN maintenance and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is a plus.
