Our team is searching for a Field Service Engineer Beam Physics with skills and passion to install, maintain, repair and upgrade IBA Proton Therapy equipment worldwide. 

As a Flying Field Service Engineer Beam Physics, you play a key role in our mission to treat cancer patients. You participate in the installation and maintenance of the IBA systems, equipment on the Proton Therapy sites worldwide on customer’s site.  

You ensure the highest quality of state-of-the-art technologies and services. You will become a specialist in the latest cancer treatment solutions and represent IBA with your “know-how”.  

Challenges we trust you with

  • Install and test equipment/systems according to the defined planning, procedure timelines, operating processes, and specifications. 
  • Perform system troubleshooting and report improvements to the Research and Development Team. 
  • Maintain equipment/systems according to the maintenance schedule, and repair equipment/systems taking all necessary actions to resolve problems. 
  • Assist with creation of training material and delivery of training to other colleagues. 
  • Document and report interventions and actions undertaken with high levels of detail and accuracy. 
  • Support the Remote Helpdesk shifts consisting of troubleshooting and dedicated support to our installed base. 
  • Participating in multidisciplinary projects to improve processes, product and emphasize in best practice sharing. 

What we value

  • Master or PHD of science (or equivalent) in physics, computer science, electrical or systems engineering, or bachelor with proven expertise of beam physics.
  • Strong experience with Excel data analysis and other Microsoft office programs is required.
  • You have fluent or intermediate communication skills in English, oral and written.

 

Cherry on the cake

  • 3-5 years of related work experience (with an emphasis on field work), Proven expertise in root-cause analysis, with the ability to lead large-scale system troubleshooting is an asset.
  • Experience with dosimetry devices, calibration tools, and proficiency in general programming languages and debugging is preferred (like python). 
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems to plan proactive is an asset. 
  • Strong experience in high tech medical equipment is an asset.

  • Willing to travel approximately 50% of the time, with more travel foreseen during the training period (+/- 6 months). 
  • A flexible person, willing to work in morning, afternoon or night shift and working on weekends. 
  • Capable of handling pressure in stressful situations. 
  • Capable of adapting to different cultures and various interlocutors.
