At IBA (Ion Beam Applications), we are world leaders in proton therapy—an advanced form of radiation therapy that enables precise, targeted treatment of cancer while sparing healthy tissue. Each proton therapy center we build is a combination of cutting-edge technology, complex infrastructure, and close collaboration with hospital teams. The installation and operational launch of these systems require dedication, precision, and a strong partnership mindset.

 

As Site Leader in Humanitas, you will take full responsibility for the on-site proton therapy technology and operations, ensuring technical service excellence, patient safety, and strong customer relationships.

You will act as both a technical expert and a strategic partner, driving performance, developing your team (4 people), and going the extra mile to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction, focusing on delivering high-quality service, solving issues proactively, improving processes, and maintaining safe and efficient operations that meet IBA’s standards.

 

You are based on site, but open to travel for training and support purposes.

Challenges we trust you with as Site leader:

 

  • Lead and coordinate all site activities (organized in shifts), prioritizing installation and maintenance work
  • Manage logistics and materials on site, coordinating with internal and external subcontractors
  • Ensure that customer requirements are met, maintain effective communication, and foster strong customer satisfaction
  • Supervise your team and actively participate in technical operations
  • Prepare and track site budgets and maintain thorough documentation of all site activities
  • Ensure deployment and compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies
  • Ensure compliance with IBA and customer radioprotection policies
  • Enforce and maintain IBA’s quality standards on site
  • Promote a high-performance, safety-first culture across the team
  • Foster collaboration and coordination of site activities with other sites in the Italian Area.
  • Manage HR aspects of the site: shift planning, time policy enforcement, team development, etc.

What we value

 

  • university degree in engineering (Electronics, Electro-mechanics, Mechanics).
  • Proven experience leading technical service and operations teams, ideally in a high-availability or mission-critical environment
  • Ideally, prior exposure to an industrial environment, contributing to your understanding of technical operations.
  • A robust technical skill set and adeptness in task management and planning.
  • A broad technical interest and attitude to perform hands-on work when needed
  • Good analytical and logical reasoning skills for root cause analysis
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust-based relationships, both internally and with customers
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Italian, enabling effective communication within our international context and with the customer.
  • A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and pride in the performance of the site

 

 

You also are:

 

  • Experienced working in clinical or hospital environments (preferred)
  • Familiar with ServiceMax and SAP (preferred)
  • A people motivator and team builder
  • Highly customer-focused and result-driven
  • Autonomous, pragmatic, and capable of making sound decisions
  • Solution-oriented, with the ability to analyze situations and define appropriate actions to drive success
  • Eager to learn new fields, continuously updating your knowledge (Electronics, Software, Hardware, Beam Physics, Medical Application etc.)
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills
