Service Engineer - PMS

Mission

Experienced Engineer responsible for leading the PMS activities.  As a strong team player working alongside teammates, subcontractors, flying engineers and R&D, you will lead various installation, test and validation phases of the imaging and positioning systems, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure system integrity. You will escalate and collaborate with R&D to find solutions to unique system issues and communicate system status to leadership and ensure compliance with QA and EHS through accurate record-keeping and good documentation practices.

Challenges we trust you with

  • Install and maintain the Proton Therapy System (PTS) for installation activities, which will include but not be limited to: QA, EHS, validation, integration testing, development, software/hardware testing, troubleshooting, and experimentation.
  • Troubleshooting PTS equipment including electrical, mechanical, gantry, imaging and patient positioning systems.
  • Perform maintenance and interventions on the PTS including but not limited to routine preventative and corrective maintenance as necessary.
  • Perform system inspections and clearly communicate the status of the system to leadership as well as fellow IBA employees.
  • Provide support to subcontractors (rigging, survey, etc.), R&D, EHS, and QA.
  • Maintain adequate records as defined by Site Manager in accordance with company QA and FDA regulations.
  • Mentor, teach and share experience with other members of the local installation team
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Physical demands

 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and working on equipment, a computer and, on video calls.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Able to work different shifts (morning, afternoon, night).
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to work with tools.
  • Able to work and perform maintenance in tight spaces.
  • Able to lift and carry >50 pounds repeatedly, climb stairs, and work at heights with a safety harness and gear that has a capacity to lift a maximum of 300 pounds (individual + tool/equipment).
  • Work more than 40 hours per week when required, IBA Flexible Time Off (FTO) policy applies for recovery time when system maintenance and upgrades are scheduled.
  • Work with hazardous materials, high voltage, and pressurized gases.
  • The incumbent will pass the Board written and verbal exams within the initial 12 months in the role.

 

Travel required

 

Travel, both domestic and international, is a requirement of the role though unlikely.  Durations of up to 4 consecutive weeks can occur and travel with short notice is also possible.  Ability to work all shifts (morning, afternoon, and nights).

  • Able to travel both internationally and domestic on short notice.
  • Able to travel frequently, often on weekends and holidays.
  • Able to travel for up to 4 consecutive weeks.

What we value


You have:

 

  • BS in Engineering, Physics or other applicable field.
  • 3+ years' experience in electrical/mechanical system repair, troubleshooting, maintenance of large integrated systems.
  • Previous experience in a similar position on a Proton Therapy site is preferred
  • Experience in several of the following: Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Software Analysis, X-Ray Systems, Positioning Equipment, Cooling Systems, PLC’s (Siemens, B&R), Regulation Loops, Drivers, Sensors, Electric Motors, High Voltage Equipment, Power Supplies.
  • Solid experience with MS Office Suite, Jira and ServiceMax.
  • Knowledge of local EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) regulations.
  • Experience   using LINUX systems Automation Studio and Siemens Step 7.

Compensation and Benefits

The approximate annual base salary range for this position is provided below. Within this range, individual compensation is influenced by various factors such as location, job-specific skills, work experience, and relevant education or training. This role may also qualify for discretionary bonuses, profit sharing, commissions, and benefits.

$82,000 - $109,000 USD
