Technical Documentation Manager

Requisition ID:  1395
Location:

Louvain-la-Neuve, BE

Shift:  Full-Time
Kind of contract:  Open Ended Contract

Mission

The documentation team is part of the Innovation and Development Systems department. Its mission is to provide most of the user documentation package for all accelerator-based IBA business lines.

It is a team composed of several technical writers and documentation assistants (about 10 persons).

Deliverables are typically either user-oriented (e.g. user guides, safety manuals) or for internal use (e.g. project bill-of-materials-based technical documentation packages). Every deliverable is essential for project delivery, regulatory and safety as well as maintenance purposes. The documentation team also ensures that translations of these documents are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.

As documentation team manager, you interact with several stakeholders to capture the requirements and content of the documentation and manage the team in order to meet the demand of the various IBA business lines.

Your role includes, among others:

  • organizing activities, allocating and planning resources effectively

  • being responsible for the content of the documents issued by your team (order, clarity, conciseness, style, layout, terminology and elements of regulatory compliance)

  • ensuring and following up translation of key documents/manuals

  • identifying and providing development opportunities for your collaborators, growing their technical skills and product knowledge

  • ensuring the team’s specific tools are maintained and efficient

Challenges we trust you with

The documentation manager will face a challenge on the ongoing authoring tool migration, a critical investment for the future of the team: as the team is currently working on the migration of part of the users manuals, a reflection on the current structure of several books will need to take place before the entire content can be moved. As a consequence, the successful candidate will define the next steps of the project with the team and several stakeholders within IBA to ensure that the new versions will meet expectations.

What we value

  • Demonstrated skills in people management, empowering people, supervising and accomplishing actions (at least 5 years of experience)

  • Interest for IBA products and technical curiosity a must
  • Experience in a document management system is required (Author-IT and Framemaker are a definitive asset)
  • Language skills: French, English. Other languages are an asset
