Mission:

 

The mission of the Particle Therapy Dosimetry team is to develop solutions to reduce the installation time of Particle Therapy centers and improve machines and patient plan verifications efficiency and accuracy. We are a passionate, and energetic team working with the latest technologies in an entrepreneurial spirit. Your role amongst that team will be to drive physics aspects, from idealization to clinical validation on the field.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

As Dosimetry Physicist, you will be responsible to: 


• Develop new dosimetry equipment specific to Particle Therapy, with a stronger focus on software solutions (including Monte Carlo simulations). The goal of these solutions is to ensure machine QA, patient QA, machine calibration and commissioning, with always more precision and efficiency;
• Analyze, calculate and evaluate the feasibility of the new equipment in accordance with specifications;
• Implementation and validation of physics algorithms;
• Go up to the end validation of the new devices on site, according to requirements and standards;
• You are also a key contact point regarding technical questions, definition of interfaces, and building training material to the rest of the organization;
• Define physics product requirement based on market needs;
• Attend international conferences (ESTRO, PTCOG, …) to follow technologies and bring them back to the team.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience: 


• You have a master degree in Physics   (or an equivalent experience) / a PhD is a plus / Medical Physics is a plus;
• Familiarity with radiation therapy   market and medical devices is a plus;
• You are fascinated by new technologies and always willing to learn;
• You like to run experimentation on real systems, you are not afraid to “get your hands dirty” ... yet following a methodic approach;
• You are a driven and proactive individual; 
• You are able to organize your work autonomously;
• You have a creative and innovative spirit;
• You are a team player with very good interpersonal skills;
• You have excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of French and German are an asset;
• A customer-oriented person with excellent communication skills including presentation of ideas;
• Typical remote work is 3 days per week and 2 days at the office (in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium);
• Willingness to travel 10% to 20% (= 2 to 4 days per month).
