As a Service Engineer, you will work on advanced medical devices and proton therapy systems, supporting clinical operations and ensuring optimal performance of cutting-edge technology.
Based on-site in Chennai, India, you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and continuous improvement of complex systems such as cyclotrons, beamlines, and patient positioning systems.

As a Service Engineer, you will:
- Ensure the proper operation of proton therapy systems and medical equipment to support patient treatments and clinical activities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on complex electromechanical and electronic systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving electrical, mechanical, electronic, and software components
- Contribute to software testing, validation, and new developments.
- Execute system upgrades and improvements in collaboration with R&D teams
- Communicate system status clearly to customers and internal stakeholders
- Document maintenance activities, incidents, and system performance using appropriate tools
Your profile
- Degree in Engineering (Electromechanical, Electrical, Electronics or similar) or relevant technical experience in field service, maintenance, or troubleshooting
- Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills. Analytical thinker, able to identify root causes of technical issues
- Candidate should have experience in several of the following: Cyclotrons, Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Software Analysis, X-Ray Systems, Positioning Equipment, cooling Systems, Vacuum Systems, PLC’s (Siemens), Regulation Loops, Drivers, Sensors, Electric Motors, High Voltage Equipment, Power Supplies, Proton Therapy Systems, etc.
- Organized, autonomous, proactive & a Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
And also
- Willing to work onsite in rotating shifts (between 5AM and 10.30PM) during the week.
- Good manual dexterity to work with tools.
- Ability to hear and speak clearly and be able to work on a computer and on video calls.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, go up and down ladders and stairs, and safely work at heights with a safety harness, etc.
- Work with hazardous materials, high voltage, and pressurized gases.
- Occupational exposure to radiation, live electrical work, handling hazardous materials, and other occupational hazards pertaining to the maintenance of the Proton Therapy equipment. IBA has an Environmental Health and Safety program in place to monitor radiation exposure tracking internal limits to ensure compliance with applicable radiation laws.
