Mission
The Deputy Country Manager / Chief of Staff supports the China Country Manager in driving strategic priorities, coordinating critical initiatives, and reinforcing disciplined execution in a complex, regulated, and partnership-driven environment.
The role serves as strategic leverage for the Country Manager, combining analytical depth, senior-level problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination while progressively building a strong understanding of the IBA China ecosystem.

1. Strategic Support & Priority Execution
- Support the Country Manager in shaping, structuring, and executing China‑specific strategic priorities aligned with local and global direction.
- Prepare executive‑level analyses, options, and recommendations to support informed decision‑making in a complex and evolving China context.
- Translate high‑level strategic objectives into actionable roadmaps, project plans, and decision frameworks, ensuring feasibility within regulatory, operational, commercial, and partnership constraints.
- Operationalize and deliver strategic initiatives and projects with direct exposure to local and global senior leadership.
- Ensure disciplined execution while maintaining alignment between global standards and local execution constraints.
2. Stakeholder & Ecosystem Coordination
- Partner closely with the Country Manager to shape and oversee the Proton Therapy business line in China, including market development, partnerships, and long-term expansion opportunities.
- Support the Country Manager in navigating and coordinating interactions with key local stakeholders – strategic partners, institutional actors, industry, and clinical ecosystems.
3. Governance, Operating Rhythm & Continuous Improvement
- Support the implementation and day‑to‑day execution of governance mechanisms defined by the Country Manager, including decision preparation and follow‑up, escalation tracking, cross‑functional prioritization.
- Support in establishing disciplined operating rhythms (reviews, checkpoints, dashboards) to track progress on strategic and operational priorities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of working processes, coordination mechanisms, and execution efficiency across China activities.
What we value
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree (MBA or advanced degree in Engineering, Healthcare Management, or Business) from a top-tier institution.
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience, combining strategy consulting, corporate transformation, or business unit leadership within complex, multinational organizations.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale, multi-year complex market and eco-system development programs in China, preferably within medical devices, healthcare infrastructure, or other highly regulated, capital-intensive industries.
- Experience working in or closely with state-owned enterprises, joint ventures, or public-private partnerships in China is essential.

- Proven success leading organizational change management, driving adoption of new operating models, and scaling capabilities in high-growth or turnaround contexts.

- Polished communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting executive-level analyses, scenario assessments, and recommendations that incorporate regulatory, geopolitical, and operational risk factors.

- Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) with proven ability to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps between China and headquarters.
